Who created Promo Day?

The first ever Promo Day took place in March 2007 in a chatroom on the personal website of writer Jo Linsdell. The only event of its kind, Promo Day proved an immediate success and requests soon came flooding in for it to be made an annual event.

Although there were a couple on online events for people in the writing industry, none of them focussed on marketing. They were more geared to 'how to write'.

Jo Linsdell, whose passion for social media had already started to grow, decided to fill the niche and created an event aimed at promotion and networking.

The basic idea was to give an opportunity for members of the writing industry to come together, promote their work for free, make contacts and learn from each other.

Promo Day was born.

Since the events popularity has steadily grown, Promo Day has now become a recognised event on the internet and the website is visited by thousands of people each year.

A bit more about Jo:

Jo Linsdell is a freelance writer living in Rome, Italy. She writes articles for websites, newspapers and magazines and occasionally also updates travel guides e.g. the Weissmann Guide to Rome for Northstar Travel Media. Jo Linsdell was born in Gillingham, Kent (UK) on 16th September 1980. Married name Joanne Denise Feliciani (she uses her maiden name as her pen name).

Having passed 10 GCSE’s, she went on to study Business Studies, History and Art A-Levels at Yateley 6th Form. Jo left England and moved to Rome, Italy in June 2001, where she now lives with her husband and their two sons.

She has had various jobs over the years ranging from credit controller and secretary to being a tour guide and teaching English as a foreign language. She now works fulltime as a freelance writer. She writes in both English and Italian.

She also manages several blogs. http://astheromansdo.blogspot.com, http://1sttimemums.blogspot.com and the multi-award winning http://writersandauthors.blogspot.com.

She is currently working on several projects including 'Twice' (a chick lit novel), 'Out and About at the Zoo' (a children's picture book for which she is both author and illustrator) and 'Social MEdia: Becoming a Goddess of social media' (a how to guide covering all the major social media platforms with practical advice for using them to get the best results).

A self confessed social media junky, Jo can be found on most social media platforms. To name a few:

PD12 Sponsor Sandy Lender

This years event is sponsored by author Sandy Lender.

Sandy Lender

Fantasy enthusiasts will recognize Sandy Lender as the author of the novels Choices Meant for GodsChoices Meant for Kings, and Problems on Eldora Prime, and as a leader of workshops on world-building, characterization, and content revision. Her four-year degree in English and twenty-year career in magazine publishing augment her book publishing experience for a variety of presentations, including blogging, troll extermination on spaceships, and how to market for the online audience.

But that’s only part of the story. Sandy is also a sea turtle conservationist, serving in the group Turtle Time since 2005. It takes one ring on her cell phone to discover she’s remained obsessed with Duran Duran since about 1984. She got rid of an unnecessary husband and beat cancer in 2008. She beat it again last year, which means she’s one tough chick. She learned dragon whispering during the 1990s and can be called on to lull these creatures into a catatonic state when necessary. Finally, she welcomes discussions about her handsome and demanding muse at any time. If you need more information about her, you can find her all over the Internet. Why not start at www.AuthorSandyLender.com.
