THE PROMOTIONAL EVENT FOR THE WRITING INDUSTRY IS BACK!

PROMO DAY makes its return in 2009 and promises to be the best yet. Mark your calendars for Saturday 9th May 2009!

An all day, online, international event for people in the writing industry packed full of tips and advice along with a variety of opportunities for writers, publishers, editors etc to promote their work and services. Readers are also welcome to drop in and get to know the authors better in the online chatroom, view the video trailors or read the sample chapters on site.

Founder and Organiser of the event, Jo Linsdell, had this to say “PROMO DAY came about because I was looking for opportunities to promote my books using the internet at little or no cost. After attending the Muse Online Writers Conference back in 2006, I searched the internet for similar events aimed at what to do after you’ve written the book and found none. I decided to fill the void and so PROMO DAY was born. PROMO DAY is a great opportunity to network with other members of the industry, take part in online workshops and promote and best of all it’s FREE”.

New features for this year is the Official Blog for the event, http://promoday.blogspot.com, where everyone can keep up to date with new announcements and information regarding the event and the official PROMO DAY book, packed full of information and resources, which will be available to buy during and after the event.
Visit the website http://jolinsdell.tripod.com/promoday for more details of how you can be involved.

BE PART OF THE ACTION, BE PART OF PROMO DAY!

Book review for "Becoming Dead Right: A Hospice Volunteer in Urban Nursing Homes” :

This may be Ms. Parker's greatest gift to her readers: bringing to life people and events that are indeed so often invisible. The writing is eloquent and powerful, and the stories are instructive and lasting. After finishing this book, I wanted to do more for other individuals who are dying, for as Ms. Parker so clearly imparts, the dying teach us so much about living well.

The Official PROMO DAY Book Cover - Guidelines

I'm still looking for a cover art designer to design the cover of the Official PROMO DAY book. I'm happy to consider work by both experienced and new designers. In exchange for the cover art you will be entitled to all the benefits of being an official sponsor of the event. Obviously your details will also be featured in a footnote on the back cover of the book. This is a huge opportunity for FREE pubblicity for the designer.

What should be included on the cover?

The cover should include the official logo (can be found on both the site homepage and this blog). There should be space on the backcover for text (which I am currently writing and will have for you in the new year). Obviously you should also add a footnote that the cover was designed by you :) The rest is pretty much up to you the designer.

I will need your design by the 1st March 2009. All designs received will be posted to the PROMO DAY site and visitors to the site will vote for the winner. The winning design will be named at the end of March 2009.
Trim size: 6'x 9'

Send your designs to promoday@ymail.com with 'cover art design' in the subject line.
