Promo Day Success Stories: Bet You Didn't Think MS Could Look This Good

Promo Day Success Stories: Bet You Didn't Think MS Could Look This Good

Every year during the Promo Day event, a group of publishers take part in pitch sessions. These publishers are on the look out for talented authors with the right manuscript.

How the pitch sessions work:

1) Participating publishers post their submission guidelines to the event forums.
2) Registered Promo Day attendees can then send them their pitch.
3) The publishers send back a reply THE SAME DAY. That's right, no waiting weeks, months, or even years for a reply. They let you know during the event if they are interested or not.
4) If the publisher is interested they will then guide you through the next steps in the process.

Promo Day Success Stories

Today I wanted to share with you one of the pitch session success stories.

Author Lisa A. Baeringer pitched her idea to publisher Cedar Loft Publishing during the 2015 event. Her book Bet You Didn't Think MS Could Look This Good: Ramblings of a Medicated Mind was released October 2016 (purchase now at: http://amzn.to/2eSoU3i).

Ms Baeringer had this to say "Promo Day is an excellent event to participate in. My manuscript was picked up by Cedar Loft Publishing during this event. It's full of wonderful advice and information concerning the publishing trade. Promo Day offered me the opportunity to get my writing career off the ground."

Promo Day Success Stories: Bet You Didn't Think MS Could Look This Good

About the book:

Lisa had a good life; married to her high school sweetheart, two handsome sons, and a nice home. Quite literally, in the blink of an eye, her whole world turned upside down. Sickness began to not only ravage her body, but also her world. In her own words, taken from her private journal, she takes you through what daily life is like when you have a seriously incurable, chronic illness. It gets even more complicated when the illness she was told she had turns out to be something else, something rare and possibly even fatal.

Cedar Loft Publishing CEO/Executive Editor, Jenny McKinney, said "Taking pitches for new books during Promo Day has been an amazing experience for Cedar Loft Publishing. We were able to sign a new author, Lisa Baeringer, and publish her book, Bet You Didn't Think MS Could Look This Good. Her book has the potential to become a best seller and we couldn't be happier."

LIVE Panel Discussion: Connecting with Readers

7am EDT/ 1pm CET Saturday 14th May 2016

Guests: Virginia Jennings and Stacey Keith

During this panel discussion we will discuss both online and offline ways authors can connect with readers.

LIVE Panel Discussion: Connecting With Readers at #‎PromoDay2016‬

Virginia Jennings:

When V.L. Jennings isn't traveling to other worlds through her imagination, she calls Dillon, South Carolina her home. Her book, "The Alien Mind," is a science fiction novel published by PDMI Publishing, LLC and is also the recipient of the Readers Favorite Five Star Review Award. Her second title, "Visionary From The Stars" is expected to be re-released through PDMI as well, in 2016. V.L. Jennings has also illustrated a children's book for PDMI, titled "Wiggle Worm's Shape Adventures," written by Karen and Kathy Sills.

But what motivates Virginia to create, to illustrate, to prognosticate? Virginia is a speculator, the kind of person who always debates the "what if?" of where stories both true and fantastical are leading themselves to, which explains her love of post-apocalyptic fare such as "The Walking Dead." Through her writing, she enjoys trying to figure out what our human potential is, and where our innate desire for a better world could lead us.

Overall, Virginia is just about as real as a person can get. Yes, even authors love to sing along with their favorite local radio station while driving, and Virginia is no exception to this rule. She enjoys watching Doctor Who or Star Trek with her family over dinner, and also watching the latest sci-fi and action movies with her husband. On the weekends, you may even find Virginia and her family at the local comic book store, hunting down more comics to add to their collections.

V.L. Jennings spends her free time writing flash fiction on her blog and working towards her Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering. You can find out more about V.L. Jennings at www.virginialorijennings.com

Stacey Keith:

Writing under various pseudonyms, Stacey Keith is a multi-award-winning author of Warner Books' popular self-help book, DRIVE YOUR WOMAN WILD IN BED. In her previous incarnation as a men's magazine model, she was the most photographed cover girl and centerfold of the mid 1990s, a notoriety she parlayed into B-movie roles, Feature Performances, and days off to perfect her writing. She has been seen on over twenty talk shows, including "Montel Williams", "Real Personal with Bob Berkowitz", "Geraldo Rivera", and "Joan Rivers".
Her fiction career has encompassed two Golden Heart finals, a Maggie, two Silver Quills, a Jasmine, a Heart of the Rockies, and over fifteen other first-place wins in Romance Writers of America contests. Her most recent work of erotic fiction, CARNAL SACRIFICE, written under the name Angelika Helsing, is available online or in paperback.
An avid writer of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and short stories, Stacey has a predilection for the offbeat, the bizarre, and “anti-June Cleaver” heroines. She doesn’t own a television, but reads compulsively—and would, in fact, go stark raving bonkers without books, of which there are many. She now lives in Calcata, a small medieval village in Italy that sits atop a cliff overlooking the Treja Valley. An artists’ colony that even the locals refer to as paese di fricchettoni, or “village of freaks,” Calcata is home to eccentrics, painters, musicians, and writers of all nationalities in addition to some pretty adorable kitties.

The replay of the panel discussion will be available all day long in the forums so if you can't tune in for the live chat you can still watch it and interact with the guests and other attendees.
