Who Should Take Part in Promo Day 2019

Promo Day is a conference for creatives of every kind; Writers, Authors, PR companies, Publishers, Editors, Book Cover Designers, Illustrators, Book Reviewers, Book Bloggers, and anyone else interested in books and marketing.

The event gives all participants the chance to connect with others from all areas of the publishing industry. So if you're looking to network with industry professionals this is the event for you!

Writers and Authors

Promo Day is all about what happens after you've written a book. It's a chance for writers, and authors to promote their work, whilst networking with others from the industry, and learning new strategies to help them in their career.

PR Companies

Book tours are a highly effective way to promote new, and older releases. Given that a large amount of Promo Day participants are authors and publishers, this is the perfect event to showcase the services a PR company has to offer.

Editors

Although the main focus of Promo Day is book marketing, and author branding, the event also touches on elements like editing, formatting, etc.... that play an important role in the success of a book. The first step for great sales is having a great product. This is why editors should participate in the Promo Day event. It's the perfect platform to use to raise awareness of the importance of editing, and to showcase the various services they offer.

Book Cover Designers

Whilst we'd all like to think it isn't true, most of us are guilty of judging books by their covers. A book cover can make, or break your chances of success.  A lot of Promo Day's participants have yet to publish their books and are looking to learn more about the industry before they take that step. For those considering self publishing, being able to connect with book cover designers during the event is incredibly useful. Many in fact, will be on the look out for a cover design for their book.

Illustrators

When it comes to illustrations a lot of writers don't know where to start. Finding an illustrator to work with can be difficult for those who haven't done it before. Promo Day is the perfect place for illustrators and writers to connect and discuss the illustration process.

Book reviewers

Book reviews are gold for authors. Word of mouth is the best kind of publicity an author can get for their book. Authors are always on the look out for book reviewers they can share their books with. If you're a book reviewer you're sure to find new opportunities during the Promo Day event.

Book Bloggers

Book bloggers do an amazing job of spreading the word about books and authors. From reviewing books, showcasing them, hosting giveaways, interviews and guest posts, book bloggers are an author's best friend. So if you're looking to connect with authors and publishers, and to put yourself on the industry radar this is the event for you.

Avid readers

Not a professional book blogger or reviewer? But you still love books and finding out more about authors, and the publishing industry? Promo Day is for you too. There are lots of giveaways where you could win free copies of books, and they are also lots of opportunities to chat with authors during the event.

So want are you waiting for? Bookmark this event now so you don't miss out on Promo Day 2019.

Webinar: Finding Your Voice- Building Your Author Brand with Clay Gilbert

#PromoDay2018 #Webinar: Finding Your Voice- Building Your Author Brand with Clay Gilbert

Webinar title: Finding Your Voice: Building Your Author Brand

Presenter: Clay Gilbert

A brief outline of what will be covered:

In this webinar, Clay Gilbert, author of the "Children of Evohe" science fiction series, as well as "Eternity", "Dark Road to Paradise", and "The Conversationalist", talks about how you can increase audience awareness of yourself and your work by building an author brand that lets readers know what kind of experience they're in for when they buy one of your books.  Clay says, "When I first became a professional author, I quickly realized I had to show readers what a 'Clay Gilbert story' was, and why my books offered something they couldn't find by reading someone else's work.  I believe that by developing your own brand, in other words, those distinct qualities that set you apart from others in the crowded publishing marketplace, you let readers know who you are and also increase your chances at great sales impact.  I'll walk you through how to do this during my PromoDay presentation!"

About Clay:

Clay Gilbert says he’s always liked stories, and that from the time he knew there were people who told them for a living, that’s what he wanted to do.  Clay’s work in various genres has been in print since his first short science fiction story, “The Computer Conspiracy,” was published inScholastic magazine when he was just thirteen. Clay is the author of the science fiction series Children of Evohe, including the novels Annah and the Children of Evohe, Annah and the Exiles, and Annah and the Gates of Grace.  He is also the author of the YA dystopian novel Eternity, as well as the vampire novel Dark Road to ParadiseHis works are published by Dark Moon Press.  He lives and works in KnoxvilleTN.  His author blog can be found athttp://portalsandpathways.wordpress.com/,  and the official website for hisChildren of Evohe novels resides at https://childrenofevohe.com/.

#PromoDay2018 #Webinar: Help! My book isn’t selling. What can I do? with Penny C. Sansevieri

Webinar title: Help! My book isn’t selling. What can I do?

Presenter: Penny C. Sansevieri

A brief outline of what will be covered:

It’s hard to know when it’s time to give up or keep pushing, and in a world where there are 4,500 books published each day, it's easy to get lost in the flood of titles that hit Amazon. So what's an eager author to do? Well, before you give up - let's look at 9 things that could be wrong and how to fix them.

In this session we'll look at specific issues that seem to plague some books that just aren't moving the needle.

Here are a few of the things we’ll look at:
  • Marketing – are you doing enough of the right things? I’ll show you how to know what you should be doing and give yourself your very own marketing grade.
  • Cover – do you know if your cover is strong enough for the genre?
  • Reviews – do you have enough? How to get more reviews even if your book is over a year old.
  • Is your book to old? Does it matter to your reader?

About Stacey

Stacey Brewer has been the managing editor for PDMI Publishing, LLC, for the last 4 years and writes fantasy of all flavors, magical realism, and fiction (though she also suffers from the occasional steampunk and sci-fi ambitions). A little time studying journalism was all it took to turn Stacey into a proper grammar fiend, and a love of reading well-written books drives her to continually study the craft of writing and use those studies to help authors refine their work and make it the best it can be.

LIVE Panel Discussion: Connecting with Readers

7am EDT/ 1pm CET Saturday 14th May 2016

Guests: Virginia Jennings and Stacey Keith

During this panel discussion we will discuss both online and offline ways authors can connect with readers.

LIVE Panel Discussion: Connecting With Readers at #‎PromoDay2016‬

Virginia Jennings:

When V.L. Jennings isn't traveling to other worlds through her imagination, she calls Dillon, South Carolina her home. Her book, "The Alien Mind," is a science fiction novel published by PDMI Publishing, LLC and is also the recipient of the Readers Favorite Five Star Review Award. Her second title, "Visionary From The Stars" is expected to be re-released through PDMI as well, in 2016. V.L. Jennings has also illustrated a children's book for PDMI, titled "Wiggle Worm's Shape Adventures," written by Karen and Kathy Sills.

But what motivates Virginia to create, to illustrate, to prognosticate? Virginia is a speculator, the kind of person who always debates the "what if?" of where stories both true and fantastical are leading themselves to, which explains her love of post-apocalyptic fare such as "The Walking Dead." Through her writing, she enjoys trying to figure out what our human potential is, and where our innate desire for a better world could lead us.

Overall, Virginia is just about as real as a person can get. Yes, even authors love to sing along with their favorite local radio station while driving, and Virginia is no exception to this rule. She enjoys watching Doctor Who or Star Trek with her family over dinner, and also watching the latest sci-fi and action movies with her husband. On the weekends, you may even find Virginia and her family at the local comic book store, hunting down more comics to add to their collections.

V.L. Jennings spends her free time writing flash fiction on her blog and working towards her Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering. You can find out more about V.L. Jennings at www.virginialorijennings.com

LIVE Panel Discussion: Connecting With Readers at #‎PromoDay2016‬

Stacey Keith:

Writing under various pseudonyms, Stacey Keith is a multi-award-winning author of Warner Books' popular self-help book, DRIVE YOUR WOMAN WILD IN BED. In her previous incarnation as a men's magazine model, she was the most photographed cover girl and centerfold of the mid 1990s, a notoriety she parlayed into B-movie roles, Feature Performances, and days off to perfect her writing. She has been seen on over twenty talk shows, including "Montel Williams", "Real Personal with Bob Berkowitz", "Geraldo Rivera", and "Joan Rivers".
Her fiction career has encompassed two Golden Heart finals, a Maggie, two Silver Quills, a Jasmine, a Heart of the Rockies, and over fifteen other first-place wins in Romance Writers of America contests. Her most recent work of erotic fiction, CARNAL SACRIFICE, written under the name Angelika Helsing, is available online or in paperback.
An avid writer of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and short stories, Stacey has a predilection for the offbeat, the bizarre, and “anti-June Cleaver” heroines. She doesn’t own a television, but reads compulsively—and would, in fact, go stark raving bonkers without books, of which there are many. She now lives in Calcata, a small medieval village in Italy that sits atop a cliff overlooking the Treja Valley. An artists’ colony that even the locals refer to as paese di fricchettoni, or “village of freaks,” Calcata is home to eccentrics, painters, musicians, and writers of all nationalities in addition to some pretty adorable kitties.

The replay of the panel discussion will be available all day long in the forums so if you can't tune in for the live chat you can still watch it and interact with the guests and other attendees.
